Milan Transfer Update 2023: Rebic Set to Depart as Musah's Arrival Edge Closer
AC Milan are close to seeing their Croatian striker, Ante Rebic leave the club this summer with reports linking him with Besiktas. Meanwhile, once Rebic's move is confirmed, the Rossoneri will reportedly grab another signing, which will be the American international midfielder, Yunus Musah.
Rebic to Sign With Besiktas This Weekend
Rebic's future with Milan have been in jeopardy since the start of this summer as his relationship with head coach Stefano Pioli at the end of last season. The former Fiorentina attacker was left out of the Rossoneri's current USA tour as he's not part of the club's plan anymore for next season.
However, parting ways with Rebic was not an easy task as he reportedly refused an offer from the Saudi Arabia team before finally agreeing on terms with Besiktas. Milan are set to receive a package of 2m Euro for the striker, who was bought in an exchange with Andre Silva a few seasons ago. Despite his disappointing form last season, Rebic was a crucial figure in the Rossoneri's recent rise in form under Pioli's tenure. However, injury has pretty much troubled him in the past two seasons.
The 29-year-old was naturally picked as the starter in Milan's front line ahead of Rafael Leao during the pandemic year. However, Rebic gradually loses his starting spot because of his constant injury problems and Leao's rise to prominence. Although his departure is inevitable, the Red and Black fans still have plenty of fond memories of the Croatian international, who will try to rejuvenate his career at Besiktas.
Milan Will Also Secure Musah's Signature Next Week
Rebic's departure is set to open the door for another new arrival at Milanello as USMNT's midfielder, Yunus Musah will be signing with Pioli's squad soon. After a rather difficult negotiation, Valencia reportedly agreed to sell the 20-year-old midfielder for a fee of around 18-20m Euro.
Munah has been reported as one of the midfield signings that Milan are keen on snatching since the start of this transfer window. Despite his young age, it looks like Pioli's since is confident that the midfielder has the right profile to be part of their squad this upcoming season.
Although some fans believe that Milan needs a more defensive-minded midfielder, it looks like the club are heading more into acquiring versatility in that department. Musah is indeed another versatile midfielder, who is supposedly capable of playing multiple roles in the center of the park.
Pioli seems keen on developing a more fluid midfield setup
that combines technique and physicality along with tactical flexibility.
Unfortunately, similar to their latest signing, Samuel Chuckwueze,
Musah won't be available for Milan's current U.S. tour and will only
train with the squad once they return from the States.
