AC Milan's Transfer Update Friday (July 5, 2016) : Milan set to Sign Gustavo Gomez

Returning with all the latest rumors and news regarding Rossoneri's transfer, following Villarreal rejection over AC Milan's proposal to sign Mateo Musacchio, Milan seemingly set their sights in acquiring Paraguay international defender, Gustavo Gomez. The defender reportedly set to have his medical later this Friday after the Red and Black squad agree to pay just over seven million Euro for his service from the player's current club, Lanus in Argentina.

Gomez is a 23-year-old defender, who has also been a regular in recent Paraguay national team setup after getting his first cap back in 2013. Considering his age, he looks like a physically tough player who might be an interesting potential partner for Alessio Romagnoli in the future. Nevertheless, Rossoneri might still be looking for at least another defender, considering the injury problem for Christian Zapata and uncertainties with Rodrigo Ely and Jherson Vergara's spot this summer. The latter was far from convincing in preseason and will most likely be shipped out before the transfer market close or even sometime soon.

There are no latest names being mentioned yet apart from the ones who have been mentioned in my previous reports. In midfield, with Piotr Zielinski eventually agreeing a move to Napoli, Milan could be looking at other names, such as Bastian Schweinsteriger, Jose Sosa, Mateo Kovacic or perhaps players who haven't been mentioned yet in the press. As for departures, more reports might be available once the team arrived in Milan from their current US. Tour.

Latest reports revealed that Gomez has already arrived at Milan and is undergoing his medical, official announcement could be made later in the day. Now, the player has already signed with the Red and Black squad and is eager to start his training under Montella.

Following the preliminary agreement signing, reports claiming that Milan could restart their negotiation in acquiring Mateo Musacchio from Villarreal. Meanwhile, the main target for the wide attacking player is still Juan Cuadrado with Rossoneri set to make their move next week. More names or speculation could arrive this weekend, especially with Rossoneri already getting insurance of cash flow from their new owner.
