Milanello Special : Montolivo Temporarily Shutting Doubters
Italia's success in reaching the Euro 2012 final next Sunday raises lots of beliefs not only for Azzurri's fans but partly Ac Milan's tifosi as they eventually witnessed the true potential of their players, mainly new signing, Riccardo Montolivo.
Although ex-Milan star, Andrea Pirlo, is still leading the pack but Montolivo's contribution in Cesare Prandelli's side last two matches have brighten up some of the ex-Fiorentina man's doubters.
In truth, most Milanisti were happy with Montolivo's arrival but considering his rather under par performances in the past couple seasons (esp since Prandelli left Fiorentina for La Nazionale), there's many doubt regarding how would the 27-year-old "Mezzalla" lift the Rossoneri's game, especially in replacing the departed senatores in midfield. As many knows, the Diavolo Rosso have already loss several important element in that center of the pitch, started from Kaka's departure few seasons ago, followed by Andrea Pirlo's cross-over to Juventus and eventually Clarence Seedorf, who just recently announced that he is officially leaving Milan.
With those departures, there's definitely many concern regarding Milan's quality in midfield, which has been dubbed decreasing in the past few seasons already. However, after Montolivo's quality performances in his Italy's last two matches, some of the doubters are getting their spirit back, although the half-German's presence might not be enough to improve the Rossoneri's creativity.
At the moment, the minor voices about Montolivo's arrival to Milanello are slowly disappearing with the player eventually able to show his true qualities that haven't been fully shown in the last couple seasons. Still, the midfielder obviously must shown his fine abilities in the red and black shirt before eventually conquering the heart of all Rossoneri faithful, but for now at least there won't be much bad precedence with the 27-year-old's arrival on free transfer this summer as he does have the technical qualities to fill Milan's midfield.
